Stefny Winter is a beautiful dreamer originally from the West Coast who has since settled in New York City, with a recent release on Dietrich Schoenemann’s Addon label, the Radiolaria EP, and more recent work for Pheek’s Archipel imprint. From the natural organic creatures at the bottom of the sea to the more troubling sounds of the city, Stefny finds her inspiration in the resonances of planet earth, giving them a musical identity with her productions. Don’t let the innocence fool you, Stefny has been DJing for over a decade and her dark yet funky rhythms are sure to enchant you.

"Music has always been my true love. Now with the expansion of making my own .... I hear the rhythms and melodies of everyday life and try to translate them into my production. Taking it to an intensity of deep, dark, melodic, driving bass with a touch of funk, however I interpret a feeling at a given moment."

Since relocating to New York in 2002, Stefny has been a resident at Direct Drive, started an all female DJ collective, volunteered at Jeannie Hopper’s Liquid Sound Lounge and organized a series of her own events around Manhattan and Brooklyn. Once a mainstay at NY's Bunker & Resolute parties, she's since performed at events such as the legendary, Picnik Electronik, Igloofest, London's fabric, also toured Europe and Japan. Its her origins as a House & Drum n' Bass DJ which seems to inform her selection with a diversity most Techno DJs lack. Hints of Minimal, hints of House, hints of Dub, hints of Detroit -

Stefny's own beats on Archipel & Contexterrior bring to mind a sexier, more mature shackleton. Her latest releases on Contxterrior as well as the Echinodon EP on Archipel featuring Isomer Transition, Flourish and Bruno Pronsato has caught a lot of attention and received some great feedback. For 2010 she has remixes coming on Soma, Klectick, Opilec Music, lo Records, Archipel, Ministate, and Hallucination LTD.
